Restauante Casa Bonita. Awesome Mexican place on the road from Coco towards Liberia (on the right at the Ladera development). Great atmosphere, authentic and delicious food (at least four different kinds of salsas), great service and a roasted apple/ice cream desert you could die for. Cool tropical flavors like guava and cas and great regular flavors also. Local Fruit and Vegetable Stand at the triangle on the road from Coco to Ocotal, just before you turn left. Grocery Stores: There are four in Coco. Automercado at the Pacifico complex, on your right as you enter Coco from the airport, is the spiffy one with sushi and organic vegetables (and corresponding prices). Across the street is the more genuine Luperon where the locals shop, with their dogs in tow. As you turn left to go to Ocotal on your right is the SuperCompro, a medium option. Get fish from the local fish market and grill it on the villa BBQ: Directions to fish market: drive out of Ocotal towards Coco. About 200 meters before the School on the left (and before the last bridge) there is a dirt road. Turn left and go over a tiny bridge about 50 meters and the local fish market is on your left. |
